Firefox is one of the most used freeware software in the history of computers.You may get a doubt that how it spends a lot of money for developing and spreading Firefox?
Do you know that it earns a lot of money? (around $US 55 Million a year)Mozilla Corporation is the company behind the Firefox.It was started as a non-profit organization but now it is not in the list of Non-profit organizations. Because it is Firefox is earning around $US 55 Million a year.
Basically Google is the source of money for the firefox.With every Firefox you will get a search engine toolbar with default search engine as google for that toolbar.This is the basic earning source.Google pays a huge amount for Firefox for making Google as default search engine for the toolbar as well making google as its homepage i.e., “Firefox Start Page”. This agreement with Google earns 85% of the total money for Firefox!!!
This agreement ends in November 2011 So they have lot of money for their future developments.
Another source of earning for Firefox is “Mozilla Stores”.It sells Firefox T-Shirts and such other accessories at a high price,and many people love to use them because it feels great to use those accessories from such big brands.
People also donate to Firefox for their wonderful work donation is also an important source of money for firefox.
